Ethiopian healer causes chaos in Altstetten, Switzerland
A miracle healer from Ethiopia has attracted over 5000 visitors in
Zurich complex 457 – where 300 to 700 were expected. For security
reasons the police cleared the building.
If you were
driving through the Hohlstrasse in Altstetten on Saturday afternoon, you
probably stuck in a traffic jam. Thousands of people were running,
according to a reader-reporter on the street. VBZ-employees had to
regulate the traffic so that an even greater chaos wouldn’t materialize.
“Hundreds of strollers were parked outside the complex 457″, says the
reader reporter.
Responsible for the onslaught was the Ethiopian priest Memehir Girma
Wondimu. “He can mentally and physically heal the sick,” says Mistre
Haile Selassie, OK Member of the healer events in the complex. He had
expected around 1,000 visitors. “But there were five or six times more.”
People had traveled from all over Europe and even the United States.
“Most of them came originally from Ethiopia and Eritrea.”
“Security was no longer guaranteed»
According to Marco Cortesi, media director of the Zurich city police,
the organizers had announced 300 and 700 visitors: “Ultimately,
however, it was around 2500 in the complex – and additional crowd of
2000 to 3000 were waiting outside.” Since security was no longer
guaranteed, the police had to intervene at 2 clock. “The evacuation went
smoothly – the priest was very cooperative,” says Cortesi.
Organizer Haile Selassie does understand the situation. But he is sad
the priest couldn’t stay until Sunday as planned. “Many visitors
traveled in vain.” But still, Wondimu has healed a paralytic in Zurich,
among other things, says Haile Selassie.
